I have done the same for you as I promised.

Since I have made the decision to published I first fell into the "trap" of what to make open vs private. I will now let the writers make that choice for me.
 
I do have a "Virtual Gathering" place where all is open and opinions are allowed and defended if necessary a true BLOG.
 
I chose "hostmonster.com" to be the server for website. Previously I used gisol.com and startlogic.com. Since I  (DEXTER)  manage 12 sites I do have some experience with providers of this service. They all use Linux operating systems which protects and therefore have no hackers. All are backed up on line. Plus I keep a copy.
 
Other Cousins have express concerns about privacy with your family information. I totally understand the reason for protecting family history. When you and I began we shared emails and open posting on ancestry.com by family.
 
However, we have expanded and realize some privacy concerns. That is why today the http://familycousin.com was created by me. It now has a private place that only you and I know the password. You can control the FTP content and access codes.
 
Here is the real risk- other than privacy. The computers today can have a hard disk crash and your data pictures history would be lost. We are using and paying for a host professional service - which allows us to back up everything away from my home. If a fires take my house the service site is still alive for my family and cousins to recover.
 
If you have another good place to protect your work - Great.

How do I do FTP uploading to my section eBook????

Firstly you need a freeware FTP software, google FTP and find one.

Then setup your site in the editor configuration.

use ID name XXXXX@familycousin.com as the name (this is similar to email for login and identifies you to the host and puts you into your assigned authorized directory on familycousin.com - our site)

You will see both your own computer on the left and the host server on the right. The files are listed.

use password given ZZZZZ to gain entry.

your section will look like this:    left to right file transfer select and use green arrow --->

 
Dick Osborn asked about the button on ebook file download
Ralph:  I downloaded the eBook that you sent.  Now I am having trouble opening the
buttons 1- 1A- etc thru 66.  When I open them all I get is the name (asExample Caroline or Richard Private) nothing else opens up.Am I doing something wrong?  Some of the buttons are repeats of the one just ahead of the one I try to open.  Some of the other things open up properly. Is it necessary to keep all these buttons?   HELP  HELP.     Dick 06/9/08
This maybe more than you need for your question, but here goes.
 
When you build a web page you use a pagemaker like MSWord or MSFrontpage to make the page and name it XXX.htm or XXX.html file. The button are placed on that page to lik it to another page. That named button is a linked to a page and places a button image somewhere in the/a folder for the page referenced initiation.  If you just look at the button1.jpg it is only the image referenced in the main webpage htm file.
 
After a while you have left over buttons no longer used and a spring cleanup is needed. I am guilty of that.
 
If you open the webpage in a text editor you will see the "source" html language that makes the page work and the button is referenced in the text. It can be edited but there a chance for error in text edit mode of the source.

You have choices for making web site pages.
There are html programs to generate pages.
Also some convert to Adobe PDF format
PDF controls pages for no printing or no copying if you wish.
I usually suggest you first use the Microsoft  Word
since Doc program allows saving as html after writing and adding pictures.

All of these can then be saved in the Internet Browser
format compared to normal doc extension.

Kathy said it well, pick your subject and plan you outline of written works.
Select pictures and combine the text with picture.

I will be your guide and help beyond this document for now.

The next step will be to send your files to the host site.

It is easy to download a free FTP program by Google searching FTP.

You will then login using the assigned FTP
address directory and the given password.
You must decide if you want to have an open or closed directory.
You can have both kinds by making a sub-directory private with password.
these must be setup by me.

You skip all of this and just tell me what you want to do.
