Dick Osborn Family

Dexter Schuyler Osborn and Sally (Sara) Ann Edlridge Osborn 1893

To: Ralph: (Jason's records show DSO 1826 birthdate.) On the back of the picture I found it stated:  To Chas (Osborn) > Dexter Schuyler Osborn 63 years old .  then the date 1893.

On the back of the picture of Sally Ann ( there was also a little girl on the
picture that I cropped off-   named Rose Uhl)  it stated   " Brother  -
mother send this picture to you have you ever seen a prettier little girl
than Rose?"    To the best of my knowledge Sally 'Ann's daughter was Chloe
who married Charles Uhl and they had 3 children,  Charles Dexter,  Marie and
Mabel .  Marie Married Ross Timmerman, Mabel married a man named Gotham.
Charles wife was Fern , but I don't remember her maiden name.

I will copy the pictures all on one page and send them to both you and Jerry Osborn.  Maybe
between the three of us we can figure out who these people are.   I just got
these pictures in the last 3 days.  One of my nephews had this old album and
just recently loaned it to me and lo and behold there were the pictures of
both Dexter S. and Sally Ann Osborn and this both surprised and please me
greatly.   11/7/02 Dick

Not much.  All I know of my own knowledge is, that picture has written on the back of it, in my greatgrandmother's hand,
"Caroline Rockwood
Hart Osborn's sister
Angola, Ind"
(or maybe it's Augusta, I'm not sure)

If you go to

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi

and search for Phineas Osborn, which is what I did, you will find several versions of this family, and I thought the best was that of a woman named Rosa Lee Trupp <gypsyr@quicktel.com  whose tree is at

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rosiesgarden&id=I07878

(careful, this may come through email as two lines and if it does you must be sure to get it all into your destination window.)

She lists the children of Phineas A, including Hart, and also including a Caroline P, b 1827, as the oldest sister.  So this confirms independently that he had such a sister.  I wrote to Ms Trupp and she did not answer so I looked elsewhere and eventually found Dick, who I assume gave you the picture.

I think if you look around there some more you will find someone who says she married a Rockwood, so that confirms that too.  I can't relocate it at this moment but I don't have much patience with that site.  These Rootsweb trees are often of low quality in my experience, but when I find the same thing in two wildly independent places I tend to assume it is probably true.  Unless, as is *very* often, even usually, the case on Rootsweb, they are all copying from each other.  But it is a very safe assumption that nobody on Rootsweb copied from my greatgrandmother ;-).

Best of luck!

We share a history of the Osborn family.

We have no record of a Caroline Osborn, perhaps our records are incomplete. We would like to know more about this Hart Osborn's sister. What can you share with us.

Hi,
My maiden name is Eldridge and I go by it instead of my married name. I am the great granddaughter of Alfred Eldridge the brother of a Henry. My grandfather was William Thomas Eldridge and my father was William Randle Eldridge--all from Texas. I don't know if there is any relationship. There is a Sarah Ann Eldridge who was the sister of Alfred and Henry and their parents were Bolling Eldridge and Mildred Baker Gaines. If you think there is a connection let me know. I have a lot more, but I don't have who Sarah Ann Eldridge married.
